DESCRIPTION: EPW - L. Bradley, London, verge fusee, 58mm, silver OF original pair cases, inner bearing London Britannia standard hallmarks with worn date letter that appears to possibly be for 1704, inner and outer with incuse "I a" marking possibly for casemaker William Jaques, white enamel dial, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock having small mask at its neck, no visible s#. Comes as pictured with a key and with a 10-inch silver graduated link chain with T-bar and tassel fob. We suspect the maker of this watch may be Langley Bradley, listed as made free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1695 per Brian Loomes' "Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World."
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, some scattered fine scratches; dial with chip at 6 adjacent opening latch, scattered fine scratches, few tiny edge nicks and small hls at left perimeter; fine gilt hands of mismatched color; outer case shows light wear, some scattered dents and dings, button latch with good function but denting to button, case closes with gap along its upper portion; inner case shows light wear, scratches to rear, perimeter dent at 3, some dings elsewhere, bezel closing with a sizable gap around upper portion, past repair of pendant junction with some solder excess visible internally and externally; tight bow; good domed glass bull's-eye crystal. Chain in excellent condition, showing light wear.
